Sakura succeeded in live video chat with Matsuyama! (Feb. 19, 2003)


Sakura Elementary School (principal: Ms. Takeuchi) has succeeded in the 1st
live video chat with Matsuyama Elementary School in Sacramento, CA, U.S.A.
(principal:Ms. von Sydow) at 12:30 a.m. on Wed. Feb. 19, 2003 (19:30 p.m. on
Tue., Feb. 18, 2003, CA, local time) on the Internet.
This event was held during the 7th Technology Night at Matsuyama Elementary.
At Sakura, students, personel, and some staff from Sacramento Matsuyama
Sister City Corporation participated in the event. So did at Matsuyama
Elementary School.
Especially the students were very happy to see their counterparts
on the huge screen and asked many questions on their school life.
"It was a wonderful experience for both the kids and the school personel!",
said Mr. Hiroshi Shiraishi (computer lab coordinator) at Sakura.

Sakura and Matsuyama become sister schools? (Nov. 1, 2002)


The 38 delegates from Sacramento lead by Mr. Ralph Sugimoto
(chairman, Matsuyama Sacramento Sister City Corporation)
visited Matsuyama on Nov. 1. On the evening there held a
welcome dinner party at ANA Hotel.
In his speech at the party he said, "We are currently working
on the arrangement of sister schools between Sakura and
Matsuyama Elementary Schools".
